Our Teachers

Melissa

Melissa combines her background in education with three decades and a whole lotta love for a wide range of movement and spiritual practices to create unique movement classes that spark aha moments, invite playfulness and curiosity, foster self-inquiry, require presence and focus, and encourage a deeper understanding and respect for the (truly!) miraculous beings that we all are.

Melissa loves learning, sharing, and being in community.  She holds multiple yoga and breathwork certifications and has been a Yoga Teacher Trainer for two yoga teacher training schools.  A former STOTT Pilates Lead Instructor Trainer and National Presenter, Melissa owned Embody Pilates & Gyrotonic Studio while living on the North Shore of MA and co-owned a STOTT Pilates Certification Center in CT.  Melissa earned a CPT through NSCA and is also trained in myofascial release and mobility techniques, is Reiki I and II certified, and a Health Coach through Columbia University’s Teachers College.  Come, let’s play and learn together! This is what it’s all about - a community holding space for the highest and best for each other and this planet.

Lisa

Lisa’s first experience with yoga was over 40 years ago on top of Merchants Bank in Burlington, VT.   After practicing Yoga for several years thereafter and working in the hotel business, Lisa decided to leave the corporate world. She spent her summers training in Ashtanga Yoga with David Swenson and began teaching in 1999 after her second child was born.  Since then, Lisa has been fortunate to take her practice globally teaching in Puerto Rico, China, South Africa and Switzerland. Having lived overseas for many years, Lisa had the opportunity to train with tremendous teachers including Scott Blossom, Sarah Powers, Donna Farhi, Larissa Carlson, Max Stromm and Steven Highburger.

Lisa is a Vedic Astrology Consultant, councils clients on Ayurvedic Healing and guides eclectic yoga practice. She enjoys tailoring yoga classes to meet students where they are infusing Ayurvedic tools for creating balance seasonally, emotionally and physically.  Often, she will take a look at the sky pattern above and design her classes to what is needed down below.  Whether Lisa is teaching yoga, leading workshops, offering Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultations and or Reading Vedic Birth Charts, her Dharma remains to be a Teacher, Student, Mother and Friend.  During Lisa’s  free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, cycling and spending time with her husband Jeff and daughters, Amanda and Haley.

Sarah

Sarah found yoga while training for her first marathon. She looked to yoga as just another part of her training regimen and after her first class, she realized that it would become much more. Yoga changed the way Sarah breathed, looked at herself as well as the world. After diving into the practice, she discovered she wanted to share this gift with others.

A native New Yorker, Sarah received her RYT 200 certification from Laughing Lotus Yoga Center under the tutelage of Mary Dana Abbot in 2015. In 2021, Sarah completed her Katonah Yoga® certification and started Sarah K Yoga LLC. Sarah believes in the power of personal practice and communal practice as an essential for wellness.

Sarah values many movement modalities as a way to optimize living in a body. She integrates Katonah Yoga, Hatha, functional mobility and strength into all of her classes. You can expect creative use of props, a mini anatomy lesson all while still feeling the grounding and magical benefits of yoga.

Sarah instructs privately and publicly along the Seacoast. When Sarah is not on the mat, you can find her gardening, chasing chickens, baking pies or on the beach with her husband Steve, son Axel and daughter Lucy. Find at more at sarahkyoga.com
